Leone Jei was bred by Gijs van Mersbergen in Udenhout. At birth, Gijs chose to name him Hay El Desta Ali, which means: It is what it is. Leone Jei began his career with us when he was three years old, coming straight from the field to our stable. From his very first jump, Koen knew he had great potential. Until he was five, he spent a short period in the field each summer, after which, at the age of six, he competed in his first international competition at Tops in Valkenswaard. It quickly became clear that the more often Leone Jei jumped, the better he became.
In October 2018, he was sold to Stal Hendrix, who resold him within two months to Adolfo Juri, the sponsor of Martin Fuchs.
Together with Martin, Leone Jei has won numerous 1.60m Grand Prix events. Since Siebe had the opportunity to compete in three of the prestigious Rolex Grand Slam events in 2024, we saw them in action multiple times. In Aachen, they finished fourth in the Grand Prix; in Spruce Meadows, they won the challenging Grand Prix; and in Geneva, they won the Rolex Top 10 Final! Additionally, they secured a fifth-place finish in the individual final at the Olympic Games in Paris.
